Why you should listen to a lawyer, an accountant (or hairdresser) who says “No!”
I made a classic mistake recently. After 3 hairdressers told me I could not achieve the hair colour I so desired, I finally met the person who told me what I wanted to hear and I let common sense fly out of the window! A mixture of pig-headedness, personal expectation and ego got the better of me.
We all do it. We listen to the person that tells us what we want to hear. We seek out the information that validates the answer we want to find. And we always pay for it later!
It should come as no surprise that we also do it when we take professional advice. We will pay extra to that person that tells us that impossibilities are now possible and we believe them. The trouble is this can be more than costly, it could be life changing.
This is why we should listen even more closely to the professional that is willing to risk losing the deal by putting their neck on the line and telling you the TRUTH. It’s a secure and confident adviser who knows their subject well if they are willing to tell you it’s not possible, it’s not sensible and it’s going to be a waste of your money to go through with your hedonistic plan.
It makes sense to ask how you should proceed to get as close as possible to your objectives and be willing to adapt your plans. Take time to consider alternatives and look at the longer term. If you take their advice, they won’t ever let you down because you will know that they will always give you the best advice for YOU, not economically motivated for them.
If you want to hear some good, honest advice then look no further as the team at Sterling Rees will always tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.
P.S. I went to another hairdresser and paid again to have it all put right……
